Because, why not?

Hey Dazzlers! I totally get that I'm kind of obsessed with color and that that's not always what ppl like... And I can totally get down with the Kim K.-esque smokey eye or the plain and simple, next to nothing looks that a lot of ladies like to rock. But when it comes to being bold and bright and great pops of color, I can't help but wish that everyone would just try it every once in a while. I mean, because why not? Why not go yellow instead of gold? Why not go midnight blue instead of black? and why not go with shimmer instead of matte? It makes a huge difference in your look and when you feel like you're dolled up and eye-catching, your demeanor changes... in a good way. Lol. Just once a week, weather you're going out to party on going in to work, add a little pop to your look. Make ppl say "wow!". Make strangers feel the urge to say something about your makeup. Make it hard for someone to not look you straight in the eyes. Because, why not?

Tough and girly ;-)

a few years ago, i had a couple of friends who would get their nails done in the sharp claw shape, one of which would go the extra mile and get this shape on a curved nail... LOVE! I contemplated getting my own claws, but then i went through a period of not getting my nails done at all and soon after that got pregnant and had a baby... needless to say, i wasn't going to get claws with a new baby at home. lol! so this weekend, since my baby's older and this new baby won't be here for a few months, i decided that i'll go ahead and get the tough and girly claws. now, when i went into the salon and asked for this, they said "oh like rihanna and lady gaga.." and my thoughts were "no honey. like Val and Viv" my ladies were doing this way before gaga was out and rihanna was styled into an artificial fashion icon. so anyway, i went hot pink and sea foam green (love the sea foam with almost any pink!) and i'm seriously in LOVE. lol! what do u think?....

Makeover Time!!! (Brittney's Step-By-Step)

So, instead of a before and after (because I do require the approval of my Dazzlers before posting their pics) my friend Brittney and I decided that her makeover would serve as a step-by-step of earthy smokey eye! She's a natural beauty and rarely wears more than foundation, so getting to doll her up was a treat in itself. Here's how the whole thing went down ;-)
(now, although I did use my bh palette for this look, I'm going to give the names of the Mary Kay products that will be the equivalents of the colors....)
MK Mineral Eye Color in Truffle (new summer color)

Next up is MK Mineral Eye Color in Amber Blaze!

...
from Truffle to the brow and on lower lashline, MK Mineral Eye Color in Gold Coast
in the inner corners, MK Mineral Eye Color in Emerald is a great color pop....

Defined the brows with MK Mineral Eye Color in Espresso..

On the skin, MK Time Wise Matte-Wear Liquid Foundation in Beige 8, MK Mineral Cheek Color in Copper Gold and MK Mineral Bronzing Powder in Canyon Gold (it seriously looks good on all skin tones) And on the lips, MK NouriShine Lipgloss in Beach Bronze
Hair done and ready to go!

Brittney's before and after collage... ENJOY!!!

Makeover Time!!! (Kan)

So this young lady, Kan, shows up to have her makeup done with the most ridiculously glorious head of hair that i'd ever seen!.. just wanted to throw that out there. Lol. Anyway, Kan didn't have many concerns about what I did to her face, however, she did specifically ask about the ever so popular MK Mineral Eye Color, Azure. So I new I'd have to throw that into whatever i put on her amazing lids. Here's Kan's before and afters.....

Kan's before and after collage..

On Kan's eyes, I started with MK Mineral Eye Color in Midnight star and swept it over her lid. I then went over the Midnight Star with MK M.E.C in Amber Blaze to keep it from being so dark, and I blended it up to her brow. Then I added the MK M.E.C. in Azure the the inner corners of her eyes. I used MK M.E.C. in Coal to define her brows, lined her upper lid with a black gel liner and applied MK Ultimate mascara to her lashes.

On Kan's Skin, I used MK Time Wise Matte-Finish Liquid Foundation,  lightly swept MK Mineral Cheek Color on her cheeks and of course, MK Mineral Bronzing Powder in Canyon Gold all over the place. LOL! I brush a pink lipstick on her lips and then toned it down with MK NouriShine Plus Lipgloss in Cream and Sugar.... and that's it!

MK Time Wise Liquid Foundation! (And why I swear by it)

Ok, so I've talked a lot about eye shadows and bringing Razzle Dazzle to even the most mundane days by having fun with color and not being afraid to take risks... but the one thing that I haven't fully talked about is the foundation of a great face!... Get it... FOUNDATION! You can have amazing eye shadow or lipstick or hair styling, but if your foundation is too light, too chalky, to heavy, or just plain non-existent, trust me, that'll stand out like a sore thumb. It's like having a fantastic outfit with horrible shoes. A great pair of heels can make a t-shirt and jeans look a lot better, just the same as tacky shoes can make a great set of threads look... wrong. So, do u get it? Foundation = Shoes here and if your foundation is on point, u can afford to do whatever u want with the rest of your makeup. Fabulous shadow can easily be overlooked if the rest of your face looks like ew.
Anyhoo, I've tried plenty of different brands of foundation and, while some of them were just fine, none of them were amazing.... until now. Mary Kay Time Wise Liquid Foundation is seriously thee BEST foundation that I've ever used! It comes is so many different shades, is super easy to match and blend, it covers great, never looks heavy and even better, it never feels heavy! It has all of the age-fighting ingredients that are in the rest of the Time Wise collection, which makes it even better.
I've recommended this to everyone and all of the ladies who have tried this fantastic makeup have raved (no, i don't like saying raved)... I've recommended this to everyone and all of the ladies who have tried this fantastic makeup have seriously LOVED it and actually expressed that love to me. hahahaha! But seriously, everyone should try this foundation, because once you try it, you'll be hooked!
Not sure what color to get?..... contact me and I'll personally color match u!

Makeover Time! (Danielle)

I have an amazing friend named Danielle and she's currently in the middle of reinventing herself. She's devoted herself to losing weight and has basically become a gym rat, but is also looking to get more serious about pampering herself and getting dolled up more often. I love it! She's looking great, feeling great and moving in a very positive direction in her transformation from working mom to hot working mom. Lol! I'm always about color, and I suggested that we try using some bright colors on her eyes as well as evening out her skin tone and giving her a glow.
Might I add that her constant gym time has resulted in a few break outs and she recently started using the Botanical Effects skincare system and has been seeing great results. When she gets all cleared up, we're going to add MK Time Wise Even Complexion Essence.
So anyway, back to color, I suggested a combo of brown, coral, a little gold and, of course, blue and she was more than ready to see the end result! Check her out!

So.... on Danielle's eyes, I used my BH Party Girl palette and started with the cocoa brown found in column 4 from the right, row 2 from the top. Then I used the coral color in the far right column, second color from the top. That amazing blue is found in the bottom left corner and I highlighted her brow bone with the shimmery gold-ish color found in the top right corner. I used a gel liner for her lash line, Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara or her lashes and Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color in Coal to define her brows. On her face, I used Mary Kay Time Wise Matte-Finish Liquid Foundation in Bronze 7, Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color in Golden Copper and Mary Kay Mineral Bronzing Powder in Canyon Gold. On her lips, I used Mary Kay NouriShine Lip gloss in Beach Bronze then used my ring finger to dab a bit of the coral eye shadow onto her lips... BOOM! lol! She looks amazing!... Don't u think?

So Worth It!

Today stated off relatively hectic. I dealt with a little more traffic than usual on my commute from the drab IE to the dazzling OC, which is never fun. However, the extra time in the car gave me more of an opportunity to really Dazzle it up with my eye shadow (i don't drive, i carpool to work so no need to fear me on the freeway. lol!) once again I busted out my fabulous MK Mineral Eye Colors and paired the beautiful Sweet Plum with some fantastic colors from my BH Party Girl Palette. I'm wearing all black today with an awesome royal blue heel so i figured that I could really do it big and bright with my eyes. And after the initial sorrow over having left my lashes at home (pouting a little still), I brought boldness to the office! I was so excited about this look already, but then I received rave reviews from both my bosses as well as about 5 ppl that walked into the office today! (like i've said before, we don't get much traffic in here.) So even after setting up for meetings, filing receipts, trying to organize the books and keeping everyone with a full cup of coffee, I'm seriously feeling very bright and pretty today!

So ok.. On my eyes, I started with MK Mineral Eye Color in Sweet Plum all over my lid, then I used the pink found in row 3, column 3 of the BH palette and blended it from the middle of the lid and up not quite to the brow. From there, I used the shimmery pale pink in column 2 from the right, row 1 from the top. I defined my brows with the brown found in row 2 column 4 from the right and then i used the electric blue in the bottom left corner on the inner corners of my eyes. I lined my top lid and water line with a gel liner and used MK Ultimate Mascara on my ever so short and stubby little natural lashes. Lol! Of course, on my face, I used my MK Time Wise Matte-Wear Liquid Foundation in Bronze 3, MK Mineral Cheek Color in Cherry Blossom and MK Mineral Bronzing Powder in Canyon Gold. You may notice that while some things will change up, I will NEVER use any other foundation or bronzer! The MK Time Wise Liquid Foundation, weather Luminous or Matte- wear are so easy to blend, so easy to match and feel so super light on my skin! And who really wants to go without a bronzer that gives a glow without that dirty look? NO ONE! So, yea... that's this look. OH! I also used MK NouriShine Lip Gloss on my lips!

My Hair...

I get a LOT of compliments on my hair. I've been gradually going blonde for almost a year now and I'm fully blonde now and not only do I love it, it seems to be popular with the strangers I run into on a day to day basis. Lol! So I figured that I would share the brand of dye I use (although, u can use whatever kind u like) as well as what I do to keep my very fine and delicate hair shiny and strong as well as keeping it from breaking so much from the damage. First off, I know that not everyone is inclined to use Dark and Lovely product, however, just because the lady on the box doesn't look like u, doesn't mean that the dye won't nourish your hair... and that goes vise versa. feel free to use a dye that u feel has the things that u want in a dye. Read reviews and make a well thought out choice... if ur coloring at home, that is. So... yea... I use Dark and Lovely in Luminous Blonde....
This is my favorite for 2 reasons, It really lifts my hair color, and the conditioner that they provide is amazing!
Of course, you want your hair to NOT break off from being put through such a harsh process, so to maintain a healthy head of hair, I like to use a mixture that you can totally make at home!
2 tbsp Mayonnaise for cholesterol....

1 Egg for protein...
mixture applied after washing the dye out of my hair...

1/2 cup of olive oil for moisture...

freshly dyed and treated with the olive oil, egg and mayonnaise mixture....
This mixture is easy to throw together and you leave it on for about 10-20 minutes in a shower cap and then wash out and condition as u normally would. Do this once every 1 or 2 weeks in between coloring to keep your hair from breaking and looking so dull from being processed. It's pretty awesome!
I don't always wear my hair straight, but when I do, I make sure that I wait a couple of days to a week after I color it.... just to give it a little break.

Hope u'll try this and enjoy!
P.S. U can use this mixture on your hair even if it's never been colored... so do.

An Ordinary Day Can Use A Little Razzle Dazzle!

Hey all! I happen to have a regular office job and, for the most part, I don't get much contact with the outside world when I'm on the clock. While this used to mean doing the bare minimum with my hair, makeup and wardrobe, I finally realized that an ordinary day can use a little Razzle Dazzle! You never know who's gonna walk into the office or who's face you can light up just by making a statement with your look! So I've decided that, even on my most exhausted and unwilling days, I have to Dazzle at least my computer. HA! Anyhoo, today, I feel like a barbie! And I mean that in the most fabulous way possible! Check it!....

So, for this look, I used the BH Party Girl Palette, and the colors I used were the darker grey found in the fourth column from the right, second color from the bottom and the lighter grey directly to the left of that one. I also used a little bit of the pale shimmery pink found in the second column from the right at the very top. to define my brows, I used the dark brown found in the fourth column from the right, second color from the top. Kiss lashes #05 (my favs right now). On my face, MK Time Wise Matte-Finish Liquid Foundation in Bronze 3. MK Mineral Cheek Color in Cherry Blossom and MK Mineral Bronzing Powder in Canyon Gold. On my lips, MK Lip Balm (excess blotted off), Wet N Wild Lipstick in 511B (excess blotted off) and then I used my finger to dab my lips with the same shimmery pale pink found in the second column from the right at the very top.
Love Love LOVE this look today!!! ;-)

A Little Sea foam, A Lotta Pink!

Going to get my nails done with no makeup is like... well.. it's just wrong! Granted, I think that going just about anywhere without makeup is wrong, but there's just something about walking out of the nail shop with a fresh set and a flawless face that just makes me feel like a lady... even if the skin around my eye brows is a little red. LOL! So in order to prepare for a fill and eye brow wax, I decided on a little Sea foam and a lotta Pink, and of course, some lashtastic action!.....
So, this look is almost completely BH.... as far as shadow and lips go... I used the pink found in the third column second color from the bottom, the Sea foam color found in the third column, bottom color, from the crease to the outer brow i used the pink found in the fourth column, second color from the bottom. I defined my brows with the dark brown in the third column from the right, second color from the bottom. MK Mineral Eye Color in Coal along the lash line where my Kiss brand #05 lashes are glued and MK Ultimate Mascara in Black on my lower lashes. On my face, MK Time Wise Matte-Finish Liquid Foundation in Bronze 3, MK Mineral Cheek Color in Cherry Blossom, and MK Mineral Bronzing Powder in Canyon Gold. On my lips, I used MK Lip Balm and then used my finger to dab on the pink found in the fourth column, second color from the top.

I absolutely LOVE this look! What do you think?

Animal Inspiration! (red macaw)

So... I was watching animal planet or nat geo... one of those networks... and there was a show about the wildlife of the amazon. Needless to say, just about everything in the jungle has amazing color and is super captivating, but seeing a flock of Red Macaws was just unreal! My favorite color is red so the vibrancy of all of the birds flying together just stuck in my head. I just got a new eye shadow palette from BH Cosmetics and they just happen to have the right colors needed to mock the fantastic colors of the red macaw. Check it out.....

For this look, I used the red on the far left column, second from the bottom of the BH Party Girl Palette, the yellow on the top row, fourth from the right, MK Mineral Eye Color in Peacock Blue as well as the bright blue seen in the lower left corner of this palette, over the top of the colors and into the outer brow, I used the shimmery white found in the top row, third from the right. I used a gel liner on both my upper lash line as well as my water line and I defined my brows (that r in desperate need of a waxing) with MK Mineral Eye Color in Coal. MK Ultimate Mascara on my lower lashes and Kiss brand lashes #05 on top! Enjoy!!!...
