Monday Fun Day?.... Yes Please!

So we all know that Monday was invented to make sure that members of the workforce had something to genuinely hate every week... but just because we absolutely despise this day and everything that comes with it, doesn't mean that we can't Dazzle the shit out of our fellow worker bees. ;-)
And what's my favorite way to add Razzle-Dazzle to the day??? MAKEUP!!! lol!
(just the word brings joy to my life)

Anyhoo... today I actually took pictures AND did a step-by-step of my makeup so i shall share in 3, 2,......

Here are the steps to the look (the ones i took, anayway) and u may notice that there are a few more steps than the average look... don't be afraid.

First off, know that this look was created with the BH Cosmetics Party Girl Palette

1. is the green located on the bottom row, fourth from the right. 2. fuchsia pink located on the second row from the bottom and second color from the left. 3. use the purple located on the second row from the top and fifth from the left on a smudger brush to blend the green and fuchsia. 4. add the black, located on the second row from the bottom and third color from the right, to the outer corner. 5. use the smudger brush to blend the black and fuchsia and then to bring the black into the crease. 6. sweep the gold located on the top row and fourth from the left across the top of the crease and blend with the shadow on the lid....

7. i used Prestige Total Intensity Eyeliner in Daring Green along 3/4 of my lower lash line. 8. i lined the remaining space on my lower lash line with Wet 'n' Wild Coloricon Pencil in Turquoise. 9. u sed a smudger brush lightly dipped in the same gold from step #6 to smudge/ blend the liners. 10. i highlighted my browbone with the color located on the top row, third from the left. and added some white eyeliner on my water line and Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara on my lower lashes. 11. I used <ary Kay Limited Edition Gel Liner on my lids. 12. Lashes on, and i'm done!

BOOM!!!!!!!!

Ok, I know what you're thinking.... well, ok, i don't. I'm assuming that you're thinking that this look is pretty heavy for a monday... but it's not! it's fun and eye-catching and shows everyone that u are ready for the day... even if deep down you're planning to only pretend to do work at your desk for as long as possible. HA!

So try it, enjoy it and send me pics if u like!

Can't Get Enough!!!

I know! I know!... Everyone and their grandma (including myself) have been so serious about fall colors and whatnot, but I just can't get enough of Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color Peacock Blue!!! I swear, this color is good for any weather... but it got a little cold and rainy these past few days and... i'm not gonna lie... I got the urge to go blue. It's such a true color! (i can't describe it any other way) it's loud and you can build it to be as intense as you want/need it to be... Can we say PERFECT?! Ok, now that i've made everyone uncomfortable with that little rant... let's take a look at today's Peacock Blue and the steps I took to make this look happen:

Starting off with the Peacock Blue on the Lid (Tell me this
color isn't ridiculously amazing!... oh wait.... u can't!)
Next is using a tapered blender brush to add Black Pearl to
the lower lash line and out (however far u desire) toward
the brow bone and then back in

BLEND!... i took a short haired blender brush and dipped it
into Silky Caramel, shook off the excess, and used that to
soften & blend the Black Pearl out toward the brow as well
as blending the Peacock Blue and Black Pearl together.

Liner!.. I used the Mary Kay Limited Edition Gel Liner and
brush to line my lid... I'm really into extreme winged liner
right now, if you're not trying to go that far, then simply
don't ;-)

Lashes!!! I use Kiss Lashes #05 (they r my favorite right
now) but you can use any lashes you like as well as opting
to rock your naturals with some..oh idk.. Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara?
;-)

What's a great eye look without a little photo grid action?
So there you have it!!! It's actually a very simple process to get some extra Razzle-Dazzle and fun onto those peepers of yours. I'm such a huge fan of this blue, that I'm recommending that EVERYONE make it a part of their makeup collection! MUAs and simple Dazzlers alike. ;-)

Lime Love!

Last week, I tried out a new (not very new, but new to my collection) Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color called Lime right? well, i totally fell in love with it! it's one of the fall favs and it can be (and has been) used to brighten up an eye or two... well, last week, instead of just putting a dab here or there, i totally made it the center of attention!
BOOM! lol
And what better way to showcase my appreciation for the use of a brighter color in the fall than to Step-By-Step it on up!....

it's pretty self-explanatory... it goes left to right from top to bottom (obviously) and the colors used are Lime, Espresso, Amber Blaze (over the top of those) , Honey Spice (at brow bone), a look at the blending, Jet Black Gel Liner and Ultimate Mascara.... BOOYAH!

Warming up a Smokey Eye...

First of all, i wanna say that this title has got me singing "Warm it up chris! i'm about to! warm it up chris! cuz that's what i was born to do!" (don't judge me)
Anyhoo, today i decided to keep with these fall-themed colors and add some fall warmth to an otherwise cool smokey eye....
Starting with a primed eye, i add Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color in Midnight Star... It's dark but not super dark and it has a fun shimmer. Next i added Sweet Plum (remember that on the list of fall favs?... well.. it was there). Blend the Sweet Plum into the Midnight Star and up toward the brow. Next it's Amber Blaze at the inner corner! (another fall-fav). it totally warms up this smokey eye. now it's just a bit more fun.. and hot! hahahaha! *clears throat* I like to use Silky Caramel from the Sweet Plum to the  outer brow. it softens the line of color and it's less of a highlight and more of a filler color... it's there but not there. From there, it's gel liner (my love), Ultimate Mascara, Foundation, a Mineral Cheek Color called Golden Copper to play into the Amber Blaze warmth (i'm gonna fire the word warm after this post btw) and on the lips?.. Creme Lipstick in Fuchsia! BOOM!

...CLOSE UP OF THE EYE.. fun right?

...Collage fun with photos of the products used

And some fun art by my bestest Joshikins!

Fall Hottness...

Although, i like to rock any color, anytime and don't necessarily let the seasons dictate what i put on my face, i can't deny that that the masses are very conscious of seasonal trends in makeup, hair and fashion. so here's what's going on this fall (and honestly, every fall)
top to bottom left: Sweet Plum, Amber Blaze, Emerald.
top to bottom right: Lime, Gold Coast

These r pretty much, along with some coppery bronze and brown colors, the can't-miss colors for fall. I'm a big fan of Mary Kay Mineral Eye Colors (which are the brand shown above) and I've decided that not enough ppl are taking advantage of how amazing these products/ colors are. So i'm on a mission to do some "Mary Kay All The Way" looks using these trendy fall colors along with some of my other favs....
So this here is using just one of the fall trends, Lime. I used it as a color pop on a pretty standard modern (jersey) smokey eye. Silver Satin and Coal are the other colors used on the eyes and I think this look is good for this fall, since not everyone is wearing warm tones everyday. Pair this look with MK Creme Lipstick in Pink Passion, and seriously, u can't go wrong!

In this look, I used Iris and Copper Glow (2 super fall-esque colors) and threw in one of my favorite blues, Midnight Star. I LOVE this look! It's bright and fun while being a bit sultry and warm. Amazing for day or night and perfect for this season! For my lips, I used Satin Lips Lip Balm and... Mineral Eye Color in Sweet Plum! The color I matched is NouriShine Plus Lipgloss in Berry Tart. I hadn't received mine yet and couldn't wait. lol

Here, I've Got Emerald and Sweet Plum with a hint of Amber Blaze making some fall magic happen. This, my friends, is exactly what I'm talking about when I say that fall-inspired makeup is trending all over the place. I threw in some Creme Lipstick in Hibiscus to play up the brightness of the Emerald. It's fun, it's warm it's colorful... it's frickin fall folks! hahaha!

Here we're bordering on Fall and Winter... This, is holiday makeup ppl! It's warm and cool, it's fun and glamorous. On the eyes we have Honey Spice and Espresso along with a new item Mary Kay gel liner (my absolute favorite ever! i love gel pot liners and couldn't wait to get my hands on MK's! It's- wait, i'll write a review on it in a bit). on the lips? MK Creme Lipstick in Rich Fig! Oh this Color!!! It lives up to it's name and is definitely Rich! I fell in love with it as soon as it went on! I think this is a perfect color for both the holidays, and those days when u want to be super bold but aren't in the mood for a bright red lip. A must-have for sure.

So, there you have my notes on Fall Hottness and some examples of on-trend colors used in some wearable ways. BOOM!!!

Wait... How Do I.....?

Ok, so.. i have a friend who shoots me the occasional question and since her questions r not uncommon, i like to respond here for anyone with similar questions to have access to the answers... anyhooo... she asked me about these 2 things so i figure i'll kill 2 birds with one blog, ;-)

"...How to use eyeshadow or blended eyeliner underneath the eye without looking like you have a black eye (and how to make it stay)
and finally how to do the light color pretty much all over the lid and then where to start that dark color..."

to the first part of this, i say start with PRIMER!!!! (excuse my excitement) but yes, eye primer is pretty important for 1:keeping your eye color in place, 2: keeping your eye color from creasing, 3: to let your eye color pop... so when applying primer, don't be shy. apply it to the upper and lower lid so when you line your lower lash line, the color doesn't go sliding out of place and giving you the raccoon effect. also, when applying color to your lower lash line with shadow, use a flat shadow brush to keep the color spreading evenly and the line just as thick or thin as u like. also, don't load that brush up with color... tap, blow or shake excess shadow off so it doesn't get too messy. when using liner, apply the liner and then use a sturdy smudge brush or and actual rubber smudge tool (not sure if that's the name cuz i'm super drawing a blank, so here's what it looks like...
this kind of smudge tool is the best for liner. always clean up any makeup that falls onto your face and even clean up your line if you like. it should look like this...
BOOYAH!!!

As for the second part of this inquiry, after applying you lighter color to your lid, if you're unsure where to begin with your darker color... start with you lower lash line.... even if you're not going to line your lower lash line, you basically want your shadow to extend the natural shape of your eye so you would take a fairly narrow brush and, instead of stopping at the outer edge of your eye like you would in the above look, you'd just take that line out toward the end of your brow as far out as you like. referring back to another post (that actually features the picture below) http://dailyrazzle-dazzle.blogspot.com/2012/10/pink-and-grey.html you can see the exact step where the darker shadow is taken from the lower lash line out toward the brow. use that same step, but don't feel obligated to take it as far out as i chose to... i like drama in my eye makeup.

I hope this was helpful for you all who are still making attempts at bringing Razzle-Dazzle into your everyday makeup routines!
If there are ANY other questions, feel free to shoot them into the comments box, or my inbox. and remember, hands-on is always just a bit more fun, so I'm available for actual personal teaching! what could be more fun than having an MUA spend an hour or 2 coaching you through your favorite looks?!

Pink and Grey...

ok so... i posted this pic on my instagram page right?....
right. (@racquelmua by the way ;-P)

and a fantastic young lady @haute_hawk asked me to do a step-by-step of this and possibly other looks and that reminded me that i totally started doing that a while ago and i just fell off the band wagon! so after referring her to my facebook http://facebook.com/YourMK and this here blog, i made a decision to get back on my step-by-steps. well... i had no use for these particular colors on saturday, but i did do another look using different colors, but the same techniques i'm using here so here that is....

take a shadow brush (like MAC 252 and build ur color on ur
lid up to the crease and along the lower lash line...
use a tapered crease brush like a MAC 224 to add the darker
color along the lower lash line and out toward the outer corner
of ur brow. (u can take that line as far in or out as u like)

use that same brush to continue from the outer point of the
line and inward along the lid, above the natural crease...

add more of the darker color to fill in the outer corner of the
lid...

use ur shadow brush to blend the pink and grey

use a blender brush and a matte, neutral color (like a beige) at the brow
bone and blend down into the grey. u just wanna soften the line, not
destroy it..

line ur eyes with whatever kind of liner u like. i used a pencil
this time around. and, of course, add lashes!

i got a little ahead of myself and snapped my finished product
before all of my lash glue was dry... but so what!

just a photo of the before and after steps... just cuz.

so yea, there's that! again, any colors can be used for this look, and it's super simple, but looks pretty fantastic! enjoy ;-)

Because Sharing is Caring...

ok, so we all know that i am a huge advocate of Mary Kay products from skincare to cosmetics.... be we also know that i am a huge fan of all things beauty and makeup and i will try just about ANYTHING... recently i was asked if brand mattered as far as achieving a certain look or level of color.. my response was no. i mean, while u do want to use quality products, that doesn't mean u have to buy the most expensive or popular brands. for instance, Mary Kay eye shadows cost $6.50 retail and they have some amazing colors and great benefits to the wearer because they're mineral shadows... as opposed to mac who's individual shadows go for around $15. i'm totally not knocking any brand. mac costs more, but they have amazing products so, u can't really complain about that... i'm just saying that if u shop around, u can find amazing products for a lot less and achieve greatness on a great budget.
That being said.. my mother-in-law found this eye shadow pallet that had some beautiful shimmery colors. it's a 30-color pallet at goes from pinks to browns and golds to greens and blues... fantastic. But do the colors look as amazing on skin as they do in the pallet? well here's the pallet....
it's by a company called YH Beja cosmetics out of China... i did a couple of swatches on my hand just out of curiosity and was immediately excited about how true these colors stayed.

Next Stop: GOOGLE!

i went on a google search of the company and found their facebook page.. they only have something like 35 likes... because they're a small company and i'm guessing it's not the easiest to find their products... but that's just my guess and i feel it to be my duty to share their fb page as well as their website... and maybe a look that i created using this little gem of a pallet. so...

http://www.facebook.com/YH.Beja.Cosmetics

http://www.yhbejacosmetic.com/en/

and.....

everything's more fun with a collage right? lol
of course, there is a little Mary Kay going on here. Mary Kay mineral eye color in Coal as well as Mary Kay liquid eyeliner in black.... the fav Kiss lashes #05, Mary Kay mineral bronzing powder... u know.. the usual.
Well, i'm so in love with this pallet and i'm sure that it's going to be making some appearances both here and on my fb page so stay on the lookout. also, check me out on MakeupBee at https://www.makeupbee.com/profile.php

Red Anyone?..... YES PLEASE!

Well, let's just start off by saying that my absolute favorite color is red... It always has been, and tho I do love other colors, it always will be. So anyhoo...
The last few days have been the first in a little while that I've dolled this face up after a week of no makeup at all. I've mixed it up and whatnot, but 3 days have consisted of my lover color RED! Dope right?.... absolutely!
This past saturday, my oldest boy had a pop warner football game and his team colors just so happen to be RED black and white... I felt it to be very appropriate for mommy to represent the best way she knew how so I grabbed my makeup bag and MAC brushes on the way out of the door and in the car, I made a little magic...

Yesterday was my monday at work... the actual monday was spent taking care of important affairs... so anyway, I wore a little black dress (u know, the kind that's dinner, dancing and/or work appropriate?) and I busted out my fave red shoes (ps the only other red shoes I own are a pair of patent leather steve madden mary jane/ toe killers and some high top chuck taylors... yes i am a thug part-time. hahaha) so anyhoo, I had found these red open-toe booties at.. wait for it..... burlington mutha fuckin coat factory for $12! hahahahahahahaha! well, they're magical and I plan to wear them until the wheels fall off... So these little gems needed to be matched up with something hot and, even tho the dress is fairly hot, the look would not be complete without... dun dun duuuuuh a red smokey eye! the kind that starts with black and then has red over it to create a deep and dark look that makes ppl look twice and think (is that red?) yes ppl, it's red... on a work day... and it doesn't look costumey...
Here's the magic i'm talking about

Last up, we have today (that doesn't mean this is the last time I'm going to work red into my makeup... I mean, let's get real ppl). When I go black and white with my wardrobe (which, after being pregnant, i'm noticing is a lot more often than it used to be) I like to toss in some awesome color on my face... usually it's with bright eye makeup, but I also have become accustomed to making magic with a bright lip.. preferably pink or red... and usually when the lips r bright, the eye is fairly toned down... but just like I've said before, some days u gotta say Why Not? and Smoke It Out! Today was one of those days and I decided to combine a classic smokey eye (just black) and a RED lip... I feel like a star.. from the neck up of course. hahahahaha!.....

The first look included BH Cosmetics eye shadow, Mary Kay Liquid liner, Mary Kay TimeWise foundation, Mary Kay Mineral cheek color as well as Mary Kay Mineral bronzing powder, and Kiss lashes #05.
The second look included Mary Kay Mineral eye color in Coal, BH cosmetics eye shadow, Mary Kay Liquid eye liner, Mary Kay TimeWise foundation, Mary Kay Mineral cheek color, Mary Kay NouriShine Plus lip gloss, and Kiss lashes #05.
Look number 3 was a complete Mary Kay face including Mary Kay Mineral eye colors Coal, Sienna and Silky Caramel, Mary Kay TimeWise foundation, Mary Kay Mineral cheek color in Cherry Blossom, Mary Kay Mineral bronzing powder in Canyon Gold, Mary Kay liquid eye liner, Mary Kay Cream lipstick in RED... and Kiss lashes #05 (can u tell those r my favs right now?)

For the Love of Color!

so i took a bit of a break from makeup... not anything too dramatic... i just had a baby and was totally wrapped up in that world. needless to say, i missed throwing color all over my eyes in the name of the my love of color... so yesterday during my visit with the in-laws, i decided to dive right into my party girl pallet eyes first.....

I started at the inner corners of both top and bottom lids to just before mid-lid with a sea foam green... used electric blue in the middle, and then a plum purple on the outer corners.... fuchsia pink along the top, yellow in the inner corners, and a mixture of the fuchsia pink and an aqua blue up to my brow... gel liner along the upper lash line and winged-out, gel liner on the water line and ultimate mascara on both top and bottom lashes... this would have been more awesome with false lashes... but i had left them at home :-/  still, i was super pleased with how this came out... now if only i could convince myself to pluck my brows. hahahahahahaha! hope u enjoy! ;-)

Sunrise... Sunset

This look is just something i put together on the way to work... hahahahaha! that sounds so weird. but anyhooo. i had the darndest time getting these colors to really pop in the photos as much as they did in real life. *sigh* i may need to invest in a good camera... u know... one that doesn't double as my phone. lol! it's an amazing fuchsia pink color at the base. but instead of just gradually fading out into a lighter pink, i went into a lighter pink and then into yellow and finished with white... not white like wtf, but enough for it to not be yellow all at my brow line. then i added white into the inner corners of my eyes and blending them into the fuchsia made a really great effect... it reminds me of a nice sunrise.. or sunset.... liner and lashes of course and i was ready for a day of lots of work and random photo taking. ;-) enjoy....

photo collages make everything more fun! haha!

you see where i'm going with this whole sunrise sunset thing right?
